What is eczema?

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a long lasting dry skin condition in which flaking, itching, and redness is observed. It is caused by a gene variation that decreases the ability of the skin to protect against certain factors and causes dryness. Eczema can arise periodically based on a number of factors, such as allergens, irritants, and environmental factors.
